Turmeric Shot

I hope the name of this post doesn’t scare you off because it isn’t an alcoholic shot that you might normally think of.  It is actually a healthy shot that can be had anytime of day.  Although most often I take my dose of this in the morning and I love it.  I saw this concoction on The Real Girl’s Kitchen on the Cooking Channel and I was intrigued immediately by it.

Once I tried it I was hooked.  It was easy to make, has a nice kick to it, and is a great detoxifying shot due to the ingredients.  Turmeric is great because of anti-inflammatory qualities of the spice but here is an easy read article for more information.  Lemon juice has health benefits too many of which are included in this list.  If you are worried about the cayenne pepper making this shot too spicy, then I would cut back a little for your personal taste but be aware of the benefits of this spice.  Have I convinced you yet to give this a try?


4 lemons

1 1/2 cup coconut water

2 teaspoons turmeric

1 teaspoon cayenne pepper


Juice 4 lemons into a 16 ounce mason jar or small pitcher. Add the coconut water, turmeric, and cayenne pepper to the lemon juice.  Stir until combined. Pour into a shot glass to serve.

Note: I keep my mixture in the refrigerator and pour myself one when I would like. Although I do have to stir up the mixture each time I use it as the spices tend to settle in the bottom of the container you use.
